Following beverage consumption, during a three-hour period, participants’ dietary intake and appetite feeling the day prior to the experiment, were assessed. Following the three-hour period, every participant was provided with an ad libitum lunch buffet. The next day, participants reported via phone their fluid and food consumption for the rest of the experiment day.

Results of Study

In the ad libitum meal, participants of normal weight consumed comparable energy, as well as in their total daily intake in the three interventions that took place. However, among individuals that are obese or overweight, coffee 6 resulted, during the ad libitum meal, in significantly reduced energy, compared to both Coffee 3 and water.
